Our Stellar Staff

Bright Star Academy Schools administrators, teachers and assistants are meticulously selected for their early childhood education, child care experience, personality and dedication to conservation. Both personal and professional reference and backgrounds are carefully screened to ensure your child's safety. Through a balance of physical, emotional, social, mental and cognitive growth, our staff places emphasis on the nurturing and development of the whole child. We believe our staff is our greatest asset and we hope that you will too! Our teacher-to-child ratios are lower than the state of Texas requires, allowing more one-on-one time in dynamic, small group settings. A child who attends Bright Star Academy Schools will be well prepared for a "Bright Future"!

Meet Our Leading Team

Sydney Stump - Regional Principal

imageHello! My name is Sydney Stump and I am the Principal at Bright Star Academy Schools! I graduated from “THE” Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Max M. Fisher College of Business and I am currently working on my Child Development Associates. Children are my passion and for as long as I can remember, I have always dreamt of having the opportunity to educate and broaden the horizons of every child. My interest for early childhood education began at a very young age as I grew up in and watched my mother establish her childcare facilities. I observed my mother develop into a motivational leader, opening fifteen facilities in the Columbus area. Over the years she has consistently inspired me to follow my heart and I truly believe it belongs in early childhood education. In recent years I have had the privilege of working as a nanny, camp counselor, volunteer for children with special needs, and a childcare teacher. With my experience in working with a variety of age groups, I have realized just how amazing it is to be a part of the educational growth of a child no matter the age. I am beyond excited to be a part of the bright future that Bright Star Academy has and I know this stellar staff will exceed your expectations of the most exceptional childcare facility. Parents like my mother thrive for the perfect learning experience for their young ones and I plan to do whatever I can to make sure that Bright Star continually seeks improvements that will only positively influence the school, the staff, and most importantly, the children. I realize that choosing a program for your little one can be incredibly difficult; however, I hope you will come and tour our extraordinary, eco-friendly school and experience just why Bright Star is the ideal childcare facility in Texas. I look forward to seeing you soon and working to make you and your family the most satisfied with your decision at Bright Star Academy!

Myka McGuire - Principal and Intervention Specialist

imageHello, my name is Myka McGuire. I graduated from The University of Oklahoma in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. I have a State of Texas teaching certificate in both special education and general education. Since 2015 I have been a part of the Bright Star family. I started as a Pre-K teacher and intervention specialist and in 2018 I joined the leadership team as assistant principal and now Principal. With a daughter of my own, I am now more than ever able to understand the importance and value of quality early childhood education on a whole new level. I am so excited to help create a unique learning environment that exceeds the needs of each family we serve at our school!

Stacy Hale - Administrative Assistant

imageHello Bright Star Families! As a member of the Bright Star team since 2010, I have had the privilege of watching this program grow and evolve into an amazing school. In 2006, I graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. Degree in Public Relations and Communications and a minor in Business. After teaching Preschool and Pre-K for over five years, I was eager to continue growing as an educator and in 2015 I took on the role of Staff Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant. I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to be hands-on in every classroom and work individually with the teachers. I am grateful for the fun learning opportunities both my daughter and son have had while enrolled in the program and I look forward to making your child's Bright Star experience both fun and educational!

Emily Noyes - Curriculum Coordinator

imageMy name is Emily Noyes and I joined the Bright Star Team in 2014. After receiving my bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2008, from The University of Texas, I pursued a career as a Pre-K teacher. Although I have been teaching since 2011 and absolutely love this age group, in 2015 I took on the role as Bright Star’s Curriculum Coordinator. Through the implementation of Handwriting Without Tears, Frog Street and Conscious Discipline, my goal is to make sure our STAR curriculum not only meets but exceeds Texas guidelines. I want every child who graduates from our program to be kindergarten ready! As a mother of two, Hello All, I am originally from California but moved to Texas in high school. After high school, I decided to pursue my first interest and received my bachelor’s in business. Shortly after I had the opportunity to meet new people and experience new cultures throughout the United States and across the world. While living in Japan, I had the chance to work at an elementary school, and that is where my interest of changing the lives of children began. After having my son, it helped me realize the unique role a caregiver plays in a child’s life. When I moved back to Texas, in 2016 I joined the Bright Star Team to be alongside my son's early childhood education. I have had the opportunity to work as a flex teacher in every room throughout Bright Star, and to be a part of our School Age team for 2 years. The more time I spent with the all the children and building connections with them, it encouraged me to do more. I decided to go back to school to obtain my master’s in education. I feel these experiences have helped prepare me for the role as Assistant Principal, and I am excited to continue to grow and flourish alongside the children. I love overseeing what my children are learning.

Kirstin Sahagun - Marketing Director/Licensing Specialist

imageMy name is Kirstin Sahagun, and I am the Licensing Specialist/School-Age Coordinator here at Bright Star Academy. I moved to the Austin area in 2000 and have yet to regret it! I had always worked in marketing, but when it came time to put my girls in childcare, I couldn’t imagine leaving them for 8+ hours a day. This led me to begin my journey into childcare, and eventually in 2016, to find my place at Bright Star! I have done everything under the sun from teaching in Early Preschool, to flexing, to ultimately coordinating our School-Age and Summer Programs. I am proud to now also be a part of our Leadership team and to not only make sure our school is safe, but that we are a fun and exciting part of our community!
